Orthospeed acts as a dental lubricant and reduces friction between orthodontic wires and brackets. The result is lower, and more continuous friction and consequently, a significant reduction in orthodontic treatment times. Orthospeed is characterised by a base element of oleic origin and a stabilising or mixing element and in that it is prepared so that it can also include different additives having sanitary-hygienic properties.
Orthospeed is a product with no negative side effects. It does not have any flavour and it does not dye the teeth enamel. It is compatible with any other oral product or medicine. It is not a toxic product and it does not produce any allergic reaction.
Orthospeed has been demonstrated to prevent unwanted friction. We have shown that:
- It has been proved that by reducing the friction a biologically compatible tooth movement and a significant reduction (up to 60%) of the duration of the orthodontic treatment are possible.
- Low forces throughout the entire orthodontic treatment also mean greater comfort for the patient.
Orthospeed reliability is guaranteed by a large amount of clinical and “in vitro” studies.
Clinical studies prove a reduction of the leveling phase, which will be completed in 91 days and a half, instead of in 165-270 days which are necessary when this product is not applied. The “in vitro” studies carried out in order to measure the sliding of a bracket along a wire also conclude that Orthospeed reduces friction considerably in all the bracket-wire couplings.
